Today my Dad and I decided to check out the Mall Costanera Center in Providencia.
It’s 5 levels and each of those levels is enormous! It’s probably the biggest mall I’ve ever seen. After a morning of walking around, and feeling a little overwhelmed by all the stores, we decided to hit the streets by way of the long glass walkway.
Right at the entryway we noticed a very interesting exhibit….
The “Máscaras” exhibit is just one of one of many rotating art exhibits at The Galeria Abierta Constanera. The one theme all of the artwork that gets displayed here has in common is that all of it was created from recycled materials.
Recycling is an issue that is very important to Chileans and with close access to the ocean, there is (fortunately yet unfortunately) an abundance of materials. Nicole Shafer, curator of the Gallery said in an online article, that she hopes the exhibits will inspire others to use recycled materials as a medium for art.
